The Summerside Bank of Prince Edward Island was a short-lived but successful financial institution that operated on the island pre-confederation. In operation from 1866 to 1901, the Summerside Bank had to close its doors due to the financial hardship Prince Edward Island faced at the end of the 19th century; it was absorbed by the Bank of New Brunswick in 1901. The brief life of this once-prosperous bank is what makes the elusive Summerside Banknotes so desirable. It is reported that only $43 in face-value of these notes exists on the market today! This is a rare and exciting opportunity to own four different examples of Summerside currency; these banknotes will make an impressive addition to any distinguished collection of rare Canadian currency.
